Andy Talley's young Villanova squad lost 9-20 this afternoon to Monmouth at Villanova Stadium on Parent's Weekend.
The Wildcats were down 3 at the beginning of the 4th, but were unable to convert a 4th & Goal from the 1 on the second play of the quarter. The Hawks then drove 80 yards to kick a field goal to go up by 6 on the Wildcats.
With the game in reach for most of the game, Monmouth went up for good just inside of 3 minutes as a 44 yard touchdown run and extra point put the visitors up by 11.
After Chris Polony was pulled, senior Christian Culicerto threw for 183 yards on 11-24 passing. Monmouth edged the 'Cats in the battle of time possession and total offense (360 vs. 303).
Villanova falls to 0-3 on the season. The Wildcats next travel to Center City to take on Penn at Franklin Field next Saturday.
