2011 Villanova Basketball Preview: Freshman You're Most Excited To See Play

Over the next several days until our first official game against Monmouth, a couple of the writers here are going to be talking about a few general topics heading into the season. Yes, we have an exhibition game tonight. There will be an open thread for people who are at the game and can report back (USE THE SB NATION iPHONE APP PEOPLE!), but no preview. The game is not on TV. Sad face.

First, we discuss what freshman we're most excited to see in action.

Pops Holman

Although big men never really get the hype at Nova, Markus Kennedy excites me the most. Mouphtaou Yarou will need help on the interior, especially in games where foul trouble is an issue. If Kennedy can be a presence in the paint and on the glass, the Cats could present problems for opponents around the rim.

Andrew Trask

JayVaughn Pinkston. He can be a real x-factor for this team with his ability to play both inside and out, and I think he is capable of being the 3rd scoring option right away.

Chris Lane

I'm a big Markus Kennedy fan. He was originally a 2010 commit so I've been following him for a while and have watched how hard he has worked to get himself ready to play college basketball. By all accounts he's the most offensively advanced big man we've had in quite some time. That's really exciting.

Which freshman are you most excited to see don the Wildcats uniform this year?
