'Cheers' & '/Facepalms': What An Ugly Win

Okay, I think I'm getting to the stage where I just want to win, and I don't care how poorly we play in the process. Not that I ever want to be losing to a team with the quality of BU at the half ever again, but seriously, it was just nice to win. As previously mentioned I was at The Garden last night after I fell into some Rangers tickets, so I couldn't watch the game live.

Actually ran into a couple of kids that I graduated with at the beer stand and we briefly mentioned how poor the game was going (we were all watching on game tracker) and one guy assured me that Villanova was now in front, with a clear sense of relief. That's how bad this has gotten.

Cheers and /Facepalms are after The Jump.

Cheers to...

Mouphtaou Yarou - Just 33% from the field, but 13 points and 13 boards (5-5 FT) are enough to get Mouph a pat on the back in an ugly win. He did what he was supposed to do, and if memory serves, Patrick Hazel is a pretty good defender. Always liked him at Marquette.

James Bell - Also removed from the starting lineup? That's what the box score says but didn't see any chatter about it. Either way, he put in the type of shift that I'm coming to expect from him. 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. I'd love to see the scoring go up, but you can't complain otherwise.

Markus Kennedy - I'm somewhat falling in love with him. He's going to be a monster for us in a couple of years. 6 points (3-4 FG), 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 0 turnovers. In 15 minutes. His minutes need to increase, but I have a feeling conditioning is a part of it.

C/Facepalms to...

Dominic Cheek - Removed from the starting lineup in favor of Achraf Yacoubou, Dom still took too many 3's (3-7), but at least hit the glass hard (7 boards). By the way, he was 2-3 from inside the arc. When's he going to learn that he can score without shooting 3's?

/Facepalms to...

Maalik Wayns - 3-14 from the floor for Leek. Just 2 assists. Let's hope he just got "worst game of his career" out of the way early this season. If that happens against anybody modestly decent, we're in trouble.

1st half shooting - 6-30 from the floor. 6 for freaking 30. I'm sorry to fans everywhere. That's just terrible.

Tim Higgins - Because nobody likes him.

Tweet of the Game

Remember a couple weeks ago when we razzed Sean about proclaiming the game was over, then we lost. Well, he's back to his old antics. Except this time we one. This guy is a prophet.

Game Thead Comment of the Game

This one was over before it started thanks to stokesfromfisher opening up the game thread with this gem.

Hold on to your butts

Villanova returns to action this Saturday when they head to Hawk Hill to take on St. Joe's. I'm nervous for the game, very, very nervous.
