preGame: Villanova at Pitt

(Note: Bud Light will be sponsoring the stretch run here, where we'll be writing a series of posts as part of their 'Here We Go' campaign. Bud Light will be shipping 2 lucky contest winners to Vegas. Details are at the conclusion of this post)

It's simple enough - this season has crashed down on top of us. Nobody could have seen this coming after we trounced Syracuse at The Carrier Dome in January. Nobody. And now? We're a sinking ship. But that's the beauty of March Madness. It's not over til it's over baby!

So when the Villanova Wildcats travel to the Petersen Events Center on Saturday to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers, this guy is going to be brimming with hope. Or maybe that's just the Friday in me talking. Who really knows. You have to wonder if the guys at Cardiac Hill are even taking us seriously.

What I do know though, is that I'm fired up. Despite this swoon, 'Nova is in The Dance. The BIG EAST Tournament next week will provide us with hopefully a couple of opportunities to get some confidence back, and then we'll be all set up to surprise some people when the tourney starts.

But first, let's stop Pitt from winning the Big East title. Let's crush a rival's dreams.

Or maybe Pitt rips our hearts our tomorrow. Nothing will surprise me anymore with this team.

More after The Jump.

Time: 4:00 p.m. ET

Location: The Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA

TV: CBS (PLEASE give us Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery. I'll do anything)

What we really need to do in this game - just show a little bit of pride. Seriously. As much as it hurt to lose tight games, the worst was getting embarassed by Notre Dame. I can't have that again.

This is a rivalry - we SHOULD have won this game the first time. Get out there and kick some ass. I just want people to compete (copyright: Tim Tebow). I don't care if we lose. I don't care if we don't play all that well and it's a junkfest.

But I need to see some fire in this team. I need to see Corey Fisher firing his teammates up. I need to see Isaiah Armwood getting in loose ball scraps. I need to see that confident "I will make this jumper all day" look in Corey Stokes eyes. I need to see Mouph battle with that Predator on Pitt.

If I see that, I know this team will be okay come March. If I see the same lethargic crap I saw on Monday, we might as well just call it a year.

Here we go boys!
