Isaiah Armwood Transferring To George Washington

Stay connected for news and updates

Former Villanova Wildcats forward Isaiah Armwood will transfer to George Washington, according to The Washington Post. Armwood was named a captain for the upcoming season before sitting down with Jay Wright following the Wildcats' trip to Europe. Both Wright and Armwood decided it was in the best interest for him to transfer.

Armwood said the biggest factor in choosing GW over other schools was his relationship with the Colonials coaching staff, particularly assistant coach Pete Strickland. While he was an assistant at North Carolina State, Strickland recruited Armwood out of high school.

"I just felt real comfortable with the coaching staff," Armwood said. "It’s a great school."

There's been discussion about what 'Nova will be losing in Armwood, and also who will reap the benefits of his transfer. The general consensus appears to be that it will definitely hurt losing his experience this year, but if it means bringing aboard a big-time prospect like Amile Jefferson, most fans are okay with it.

Best of luck Zeek!
