Maalik Wayns led the Wildcats in points and assists this season with 17.6 ppg and 4.6 apg, respectively. The junior point guard scored easily in most games, setting a season high of 39 points during a January 14th meeting with Cincinnati. He failed to score in double-digits only three times in the regular season, against Syracuse and in two injury-hampered games against Providence and Georgetown — he scored just 3 points in each.
Wayns will enter his name for NBA draft consideration this summer. His offensive production will be missed as nobody had a better season for the Wildcats.
