Debby Wong-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
All the latest on the 2013 basketball prospects being targeted by the Villanova Wildcats.
Josh Hart is back from Miami and Tyler Roberson is back from SMU - and neither has made a verbal commitment.
Hart appears set to make his decision in the coming weeks, while Roberson still has some official visits to take, including one to Villanova.
And best yet, GOOD NEWS ON THE BIG MAN FRONT! (oh yeah, I cap locked that one)
Villanova has 2 seniors on the roster this season in Mouphtaou Yarou and Maurice Sutton, and have 12 scholarship roster players (Dylan Ennis will be taking a redshirt year). 'Nova will be targeting anywhere from 1 to 3 prospects for the 2013 recruiting class. Kris Jenkins became Villanova's 1st verbal commitment on August 26th.
New updates will appear in BOLD.
Point Guards
With Tony Chennault, Ty Johnson and Ryan Arcidiacono on campus this fall (and Dylan Ennis joining the following season), point guard is not a huge position of need and for now Jay Wright is focusing on other areas.
One key thing to note is that Rysheed Jordan appears to be re-considering his decision to cut Villanova from his list.
Shooting Guards
Arcidiacono, Achraf Yacoubou, Darrun Hilliard & James Bell can also play off the ball in a pinch if needed, but Jay Wright is still exploring options.
| Target | Hometown (HS) | Height/Weight | Recruiting Profiles | Also Considering | Trending |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ron Patterson | Indianapolis, IN (Brewster Academy) | 6'3", 195 lbs. |
|
Coach Chill was at Brewster to watch Patterson, a former Indiana commit who didn't qualify in 2012. He's fully qualified now and 'Nova appears to be interested. |
Small Forwards
There isn't a huge need here with the recent addition of Mislav Brzoja from Croatia, in addition to James Bell, Darrun Hilliard, and even JayVaughn Pinkston's capability to play the 3.

| Josh Hart |
Silver Spring, MD (Sidwell Friends) |
6'5", 190 lbs. |
|
Hart is back from a visit to Miami, but this still feels like a Villanova-Rutgers battle. He announced this afternoon that his final three are Villanova, Penn State and Rutgers, cutting Miami and Xavier from consideration. |
|
| BJ Johnson |
Ardmore, PA (Lower Merion) |
6'6", 170 lbs. |
|
Johnson trimmed his list to 4 schools last week, with 'Nova making the cut. |
Forwards
Unless you're all dying to see the 4-guard lineup rolled out on a consistent basis, we could use some beef up front.
NOTE: Isaiah Watkins removed after he gave his verbal to Duquesne.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler Roberson |
Roselle, NJ (Roselle Catholic) |
6'8", 210 lbs. |
|
Roberson trimmed his list to 6 schools following a round of in-home visits. He's completed an official visit to SMU and will trip to Syracuse this weekend. He will take an official to Villanova but it hasn't been scheduled yet. |
Centers
With Markus Kennedy transferring, Mouph set to graduate and only Daniel Ochefu waiting in the wings, it's imperative that Jay Wright add a big body (or 2) up front.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chinonso Obokoh |
Rochester, NY (Bishop Kearney) |
6'10", 220 lbs. |
|
Obokoh trimmed his list to 5 per Scout ($). Spoiler alert, he wouldn't still be here if we weren't on it. He recently visited Villanova as well and enjoyed the trip. |
