The "Costumes for Kids" program was started locally by 10-year-old Abby who was inspired by a speech I gave at her school. Abby wanted to give back and started her charity for kids and parents to donate new or slightly used costumes that don't fit them, and giving them to kids who can't afford costumes. Last year Abby collected over 300 costumes and this year she is hoping to collect 500 costumes for RFF. Costumes can be dropped off at our office or The Power Center (24 West Front Street, Red Bank NJ).
Coats for Kids
Please keep RFF's winter coat drive in mind as you clean out your closets! Through the end of the November, we are collecting coats to help keep kids in Newark warm this winter. We accept new and clean, gently worn coats. As a general rule, if you wouldn't dress your child in it, we wouldn't give it to a child. The target population that we serve is boys and girls in grades K-8 so we are only accepting donations for that age group. Click here to make a monetary donation.
Our annual food drive helps to provide complete Thanksgiving meals to families. Get involved by donating non-perishable food items including canned goods, stuffing, potatoes, gravy and all the trimmings! Gift cards for supermarkets are also a great idea, as RFF staff uses them to purchase turkeys and additional food items. If you have earned a free turkey at your supermarket, consider donating your voucher to RFF this year! Click here to make a monetary donation.
Holiday Hoopla Toy Drive & Celebration
Our annual toy drive has become one of our biggest events of the year! Last year, thanks to partnerships with Ray Catena, Dr. Jays and our growing network of friends, we collected over 1,000 presents. We also host an end of semester party rewarding all students who do the right thing (wear their school uniform, make good choices, put their best effort forward in the classroom, demonstrate excellent behavior and character). The party features a DJ, face painter, magician, clown and snacks! We are collecting age appropriate presents for our target population, which are boys and girls in grades K-8. Presents should be unwrapped and can be dropped off at our office. Click here to make a monetary donation.
If you're participating in this year's ING New York City Marathon, consider running to benefit RFF! Know someone else who is participating? Make a donation to RFF in their honor! Visit our Crowdrise fundraising page to make your pledge today!
