After committing to play at Villanova next year, Sidwell Friends senior Josh Hart told Adam Zagoria that he will be recruiting other talents to join him and Kris Jenkins on the Main Line.
At 4:00pm, Josh Hart officially announced that he would play college basketball for Villanova, from a seat in the Franklin Tavern in Washington, D.C. He is the 87th-ranked player in the Rivals 150 recruiting rankings and is a consensus 4-star talent with size, strength and handle that will allow him to play multiple positions in college (though he considers himself a guard).
The Sidwell Friends senior joins Kris Jenkins, who is also from the Washington D.C. area, as a member of the Wildcats' 2013 recruiting class. Jenkins is a friend of his and had been working to get Hart on-board with Villanova.
Hart was considering a short-list of Villanova, Rutgers and Penn State prior to his commitment.
The consensus 4-star wing from Sidwell Friends verbally committed to coach Jay Wright and the Villanova Wildcats on Wednesday afternoon. Hart confirmed he will sign his National Letter of Intent during the Fall signing period.
Hart clearly wants his announcement at 4:00pm to be more of an event than a rubber-stamping of previously broken news. Who can blame him? Every kid wants to have their ESPNU hat ceremony.
Josh Hart was orginally going to make his college commitment at the Sidwell Friends Athletic Conference Center at 4 pm ET. While the time of the commitment remains the same, the press conference will now take place at Franklin Grille, right across the street from Sidwell Friends on Wisconsin Ave.

In his most recent public interview with Adam Zagoria, Josh Hart says yet again that Villanova was the only school who didn't use any sort of negative recruiting tactics. In this day and age of college athletics, that's very impressive, and refreshing, of Jay Wright and his staff.
Negative recruiting involves focusing on the perceived lack of something at another school, rather than focusing on what your own school has to offer. Here's what Hart had to say.
“Villanova, I really like the coaching staff,” Hart said. “They’re really great, really genuine. They are the only school that hasn’t negatively recruited during the whole recruiting process. That’s always a positive.”
”That’s one thing I definitely like about Villanova. They weren’t really too focused on what other people had; they were focused on what they had to offer me and that’s a great thing. That shows their character level.”
Hart saying that Villanova was the only staff not to utilize these tactics means that the staffs at Rutgers and Penn State (and perhaps Miami and Xavier), were using these tactics. Ironically, it may mean that they put themselves out of this recruitment with what many would consider to be shameful recruiting tactics.
Hart when on to talk about his relationship with current Wildcat Dylan Ennis, as well as his relationships with the coaching staffs at Rutgers and Penn State.
Josh Hart is planning to announce his college decision on Wednesday.
Last week Josh Hart set a date of October 10th to make his verbal commitment, with Villanova, Rutgers and Penn State the 3 schools remaining in his recruitment. According to a tweet sent out by Hart on Monday, that date hasn't changed.
