The WAC is officially giving up on football after the 2012 season. There is a chance that the conference won't be able to survive in any sport, but what remains of the league is dedicated to trying to rebuild. This news rules out the "WAC-East" idea that had been rumored, with schools from the CAA, SoCon and Big South playing FBS football in the WAC. It also limits the options for CAA schools looking to exit to FBS conferences.
