Last Friday, the NCAA announced that Villanova will host the 2013 Women's Lacrosse Division 1 NCAA Championship. The semifinal games will take place on Friday May 24th, while the championship game will be on Sunday May 26th. This is the first time Villanova will serve as the host for a women's championship weekend. Athletic Director Vince Nicastro commented on the selection:

"We are thrilled to be named host of the 2013 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship. This event is quickly developing into one of the NCAA's premiere championship events and Villanova Stadium will be an outstanding venue for it. The Philadelphia region is one of the strongest lacrosse communities in the nation, so it promises to be a terrific atmosphere and memorable event for the competitors. We are extremely excited to be a part of it."

It will be a busy Memorial Day Weekend in the Philadelphia area. Not only will the women's championship be a local event, but the men's semifinal and championship games will be held at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday May 25th and Monday May 27th.
