Blue & White Scrimmage Recap

An encouraging showing of potential from Villanova's guard-heavy squad

Hoops Mania from a Senior's perspective

A predictable evening from Villanova Athletics.

Nicki Minaj performing at 'Nova

After a week that included rumours involving Kendrick Lamar performing at Villanova, Nicki Minaj came out in a Villanova jersey and shocked The Pavilion much to the delight of 'Nova Nation. Seriously, try to stay off Twitter for the next few hours, but if you must go there, try to not search for "Nicki Minaj" or "Hoops Mania" or "OMG" - it's pretty crazy on there.

Another home run from the Villanova administration - this seems like one of the best Hoops Mania events yet.

Elite 2017, 2018 prospects at Hoops Mania

Villanova is clearly going for #ALLTHERECRUITS tonight, as DunkDog's Spencer Pulliam reports that local 2017 prospects Quade Green, Nick Alikakos and Eric Ayala are on campus, along with 2018 prospect Cam Reddish.

Green is the big name of the bunch, as the freshman is already getting tons of hype and should be backing up Miami-bound Ja'Quan Newton this season at Neumann-Goretti. Both Green and Episcopal Academy freshman Alikakos are a part of the Team Final AAU program, which has strong ties to Villanova.

Just in 8th grade, Cam Reddish is already getting rave reviews as well, with DunkDog ranking him the top point guard in the country for 2018 (#6 overall). It's still early, but he looks like a big time prospect. It's good to see him interested in Villanova this early.

New York City duo confirmed for Hoops Mania

According to a tweet from, New York City duo Dimencio Vaughn and DaQuaan Washington are on campus for Villanova Hoops Mania. Both players play high school ball for Thurgood Marshall Academy, and are part of the NY Lightning AAU program.

Vaughn, a shooting guard, checks in at 6'3" and 185 pounds. Washington is a 5'9" point guard. Both are class of 2015 prospects for Villanova, but neither currently holds an offer.

Elite 2015 DMV point guard attending Hoops Mania

Elite 2015 DMV-area point guard Bryant Crawford is confirmed to be attending Villanova's Hoops Mania, according to 247sports' Andrew Dzurita on Twitter.

This is a new name for 2015 recruiting, and it's a big one for Villanova. Crawford is ranked 35th nationally in the 247 Composite rankings, and is listed as the top prospect in the DMV area for 2015. So why's he visiting Villanova, you might be asking?

Crawford plays his high school hoops for Gonzaga, the same program that produced freshman Kris Jenkins. It looks like their is a reunion in store for those two over the weekend - could this be a leg up for Villanova in the recruiting race?

Right now, the consensus on the 247 Crystal Ball is that Crawford is bound for Indiana, but it is still early.

Several local recruits confirmed for Hoops Mania

Per several tweets from City of Basketball Love Scouting Director Ian Simon, Villanova will have several local recruits from the 2015 and 2016 class in attendance tonight for Hoops Mania. Here's the list:

2015 G Levan Alston (Haverford School)

2015 G/F Sean Lloyd (Imhotep Charter)

2016 G Austin Harriott (Germantown Friends School)

2016 F Lamar Stevens (Haverford School)

2016 G Tony Carr (Roman Catholic)

That's a good list of local prospects in attendance, something that we figured would happen as the date got closer. Of those players, Alston seems to have gotten the most attention from the Villanova staff and might be in line for an offer int he backcourt in 2015 with it looking more and more likely that Isaiah Briscoe won't be a realistic target for Jay Wright.

Just under 6 hours away from the event now.

Vermont Academy duo confirmed for Hoops Mania

Per a tweet from Adam Finkelstein, 2016 Vermont Academy teammates Sedee Keita and K.J. Santos will be attending Villanova Hoops Mania on Friday night. The duo joined a confirmed list of 2014 commitments Phil Booth and Mikal Bridges, as well as 2015 prospects Donte Divincenzo and Josh Reaves.

Keita, a 6'9" forward from Middletown, DE, was offered by Jay Wright during the July Live Period after an impressive showing with the WE-R-1 AAU program. He is a host of several frontliners that Jay Wright is after in the 2015/2016 classes.

Santos, a 6'7" wing originally from Geneva, IL, has reportedly landed offers from VCU, Xavier, West Virginia, Iowa, DePaul and Penn State. He's also getting a look from Purdue ($). This is the first we've heard of him with interest in Villanova, but after reclassifying from 2015 to 2016, he looks like he's beginning to pick up a lot more interest from high-major programs.
