2014 PG/SG Phil Booth of Mount St. Joseph (MD) and Team Takeover has cut his list to a final 5 schools, per Edgar Walk of DMV Elite Scouting Service.
2014 Mount St. Joseph G Phil Booth (Team Takeover) has cut his list to five: Georgetown, Indiana, Villanova, Virginia, and Temple. #DMVHoops— Edgar Walker (@Edgar_Walker) July 16, 2013
As expected, Georgetown, Indiana and Villanova all made the cut, with Virginia and Temple also joining the list. As was previously reported, Maryland is no longer an option for Booth as they already have a very crowded backcourt in 2014.
Booth has previously said that he's not going to make a commitment until the fall, but it is believed to be a two-team race between Villanova and Indiana for his signature. The 247 Crystal Ball currently has 5 of 6 experts calling it for Villanova, although Indiana can't be underestimated due to Booth's strong relationship with former Team Takeover coach and current IU assistant Kenny Johnson.
Booth has been a priority for months for Jay Wright as he looks to bolster his backcourt with ball handlers after not taking one in the class of 2013. Booth's ability to play on or off the ball would be a nice fit in Villanova's offense.
