Those who read and participate in the comments may have noticed that national interest around 2014 Recruit, Robert Johnson, is gaining momentum.
The 6'3" class of 2014 combo-guard has burst on the recruiting scene since the spring. His participation at the NBAPA Top 100 Camp over the weekend turned some additional heads from high-major programs. At the camp, Rivals noted [he], "attacked off the dribble and showed a lot of burst getting to the rim."
He's continued to impress at the LeBron Skills Academy and the Peach Jam picking up offers Alabama, Marquette, Virginia, Georgetown, Cincinnati, and Indiana. The newest addition of schools tracking Johnson? North Carolina.
A recent Scout [$] article notes that the Virginia native is high on Roy Williams' watch list. The article more importantly notes that Villanova was the first high-major to give Johnson a scholarship offer after his performance in the NBAPA Top 100 Camp a month ago.
Benedictine coach Ryan Marable noted,
"Villanova saw him and they loved him and then saw him again in the first live period and they were the first high major program to come in and offer right away. I think that carries a lot of weight with him and his family. They’ve been able to build a relationship early."
Marable also noted that Johnson "would like to commit before the season starts."
