Rakim Cox may have been instantly snapped up by the Minnesota Vikings after the 2014 NFL draft ended, but he won't be the only ex-Wildcat attending camp this summer. Joe Price, the five-year wide receiver, has reportedly been invited to camp with the Detroit Lions with a chance to perhaps make the team. The program's Facebook page reported the news this afternoon.
Price has great size at 6-3 and 202 pounds, and ran a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash at Villanova's pro-day. He was notable at Villanova for his blocking in the running game as well as for having good hands that helped make him a key target for John Robertson in his Freshman season.
It will be an uphill battle for Price to make the team, but he will get his chance to show Detroit his value. His hands could make him a key possession receiver, and though he may lack the elite speed that NFL teams covet, Detroit is not necessarily desperate for another burner. He is a hard-worker at his position that could offer significantly more value on special teams as well.
