Last week saw mixed results for the Big East as a whole. Only Seton Hall and Villanova remain undefeated (YAY!!!!). St. John's got a big road win against Syracuse. Butler continued their dominance and may even move up in the rankings this week.
There were some negative, however. Providence lost on the road to Boston College, and all ACC losses hurt. Creighton also fell, showing some weaknesses in their loss to Tulsa. Can the Big East continue to attract bandwagon fans? Let's see what games lie ahead.
Games of the Day
Monday
Brown vs. Providence
Both games Monday night shouldn't be an issue for the respective Big East schools. However, after Yale overtook Connecticut and the University of the Science beat Drexel, you need to watch out for those nerds...
Tuesday
(24) Illinois vs. (10) Villanova
`Nova yet again gets a chance to overcome a ranked opponent at MSG. SHU vs. Wichita is also enticing, but two ranked teams beats one. Villanova once again can prove the haters (if there are any left) wrong on a national setting.
Wednesday
(11) Kansas vs. Georgetown
The Hoyas almost upset Wisconsin in Battle 4 Atlantis, so it'll be interesting to see what they can do on their home court. Kansas isn't to be taken lightly, however, as their only loss was that terrible offensive game to Kentucky.
Thursday
Just one game, but even DePaul has made headlines with their 6-1 start to the season. They'll face a tough road test in George Washington - the Colonials narrowly lost at Seton Hall and have already recorded wins over Rutgers and Charlotte.
Saturday
St. Mary's vs. Creighton
Once again, the conference should win all 4 games on this day, but this one is the most intriguing just because St. Mary's is the most notable of the 4 opponents. My guess is Stony Brook, Radford and Missouri shouldn't give their teams too many problems.
Sunday
Temple vs. (10) Villanova
Maybe I'm just biased here, but no Big 5 matchup should be taken lightly. Temple lost their first Big 5 game to Saint Joseph's (PA) and won their next against La Salle. Since the Wildcats are the home team, they should have an easy time in this one.
