Maine Black Bears: Quick Download
Maine rattled off their 2013 season with 3 quick wins against Nofolk St., UMass, and Bryant. Then they traveled to Evanston, IL and lost to the Big Ten's Northwestern (who is currently ranked #18) 35-21. They've rebounded wth victories in the CAA over Richmond, Delaware, and William & Mary.
Senior quarterback Marcus Wasilewski went 16-for-22 with 192 yards and a pair of touchdowns against William & Mary last weekend surpassing the 4,000-yard passing mark for his career in the win. The Black Bear quarterback also showcased his rushing attack as he ran for 71 yards on 14 carries.
Wasilewski has no evident favorite deep target as four Maine receivers have tallied between 290 yards and 370 yards on the season as Maine's pass offense is #3 in the conference.
Nigel Jones is the main workhorse on the Black Bears' ground attack which is 6th in the CAA. He's rushed 95 times this season for just under 500 yards.
Head Coach: Jack Cosgrove (Maine '78) is in his 21st season at the helm of Maine. He has tallied a 117-119 with the Black Bears. He was a finalist in 2001 and 2008 for the Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year Award. He was the Conference Coach of the Year in 1996 & 2001.
Maine has three players in the NFL. Montell Owens is a running back for the Detroit Lions, Mike DeVito is a defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs, and Jerron McMillian play safety or the Green Bay Packers. Five Black Bears are in the NHL.
Bestselling author Stephen King ('70), and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Bernard Lown ('44) are also alumns from the Orano campus.
