A Look at Kansas Recruiting

Yes, we know that this is a VILLANOVA Basketball Website... but the happenings at the University of Kansas will have a direct and indirect impact on 'Nova. The main Wildcat target with the crosshairs on him is, of course, Dominic Cheek from St. Anthony's in Jersey City, NJ.

Cheek traveled out to Lawrence on Thursday and was present at KU's "Late Night in the Phog" on Friday with some of the top unsigned High School Seniors; Elijah Johnson (#27 by Rivals), Michael Snaer (#11), Xavier Henry (#3). The event included a National Championship Ring Presentation and numerous signs welcoming the recruits (which is an NCAA violation).

Johnson, a point guard, verballed to the Jayhawk staff yesterday (Forward Thomas Robinson (#18) has already committed). This leaves one KU scholarship available for the Class of '09 with Henry, Snaer, and Cheek all playing the same 2/3 position. Posters on Phog.net have made it known that if Xavier Henry, whose father played for KU in the 80s, wants to go to Kansas, Bill Self will magically find a spot for him, even if they are out of 'ships.

So, in the end... the is the final line for the KU Class of '09 Recruiting: If Xavier Henry commits first, they are done. If Snaer or Cheek commit, the other is out... but a spot will remain open for Henry.
