A Look at Northwood

The Return of Rollie
The 2008-09 Villanova Men's Basketball Team starts the season tomorrow with an Exhibition Game against Northwood University tomorrow (Thursday 11/6) night at the Spectrum.northwood.gif

As we all know, Northwood is coached by Rollie Massimino who led Villanova to the 1985 National Championship.

The Pollsters have given the Seahawks the following rankings…
• Pre-Season #4 in NAIA Div II
• Pre-Season #1 in Sun Conference

The team is led by 6’8" forward DeSean White, a senior, who was the Sun Conference Player of the Year in 2008.

White played in ’05 & ’06 at Providence. He grew up in Philly and played at Cardinal Dougherty.

The Seahawks also feature three 7’+ Footers… Junior Steve Ritzema, Senior Augustine Okosun (who played at Seton Hall last year), and 7’4” Senior Jermaine Middleton (who previously played at Central Connecticut and George Washington).

Okosun played 11 minutes in last year’s Seton Hall game against ‘Nova where he grabbed 1 rebound, had 1 point and was called for 3 fouls.

Northwood will finish up their “Exhibition Tour” at Maryland on Saturday before returning to West Palm Beach to start their regular season.

Tickets are still available for $10.
