#20 Villanova (6-0) got 19 points and 12 rebound from Dante Cunningham to beat Rhode Island (5-2) in the Championship game of the Philly Hoop Group Classic. The Wildcats had 5 players in double digit; Corey Fisher (14), Scottie Reynolds (13), Reggie Redding (11) and Antonio Pena (10).
The game turned out to be a very physical one getting 'Nova ready for Big East Conference play. Redding, assigned the duty of guarding URI star Jimmy Baron, required 4 stitches and enough blood was drawn to require jersey changes.
