Villanova lost for the first time this season as the #6 Longhorns took the Wildcats down 67-58 at Madison Square Garden in the Jimmy V. Classic.
The Wildcats held Texas star AJ Abrams to 8 points in the first half, but he exploded for 18 in the second.
Villanova was led by Dante Cunnigham who registered his fourth Double-Double of the season with 23 points and 12 boards. Corey Stokes added 11 and Scottie Reynolds who seemed frustrated all night, fouled out with 10.
'Nova shot 4-18 from behind the arc.
Jay Wright:
"We've got a lot of work to do. We need to play in these games and we will now. We need to play against this type of physical defense and be able to take care of the basketball and still make plays. I think that's what we learned. I also think we have to rebound better as a team. But we can be a good team."
