Recruiting Jarrid Famous and Kyrie Irving

We've mentioned before that Westchester (NY) Community College 6'11" center Jarrid Famous has had some interest from Jay Wright and staff. The Big Man is arguably the top Junior College transfer of 2009. Reports from some of our readers and from vusports note that Famous was at Sunday's game at the Pavilion taking in the game with Dominic Cheek.

So far this season, Famous is recording some impressive numbers: 23.8ppg and 13.5rpg. He would definitely fill a role and find time next year at 'Nova where the frontcourt will consist of Antonio Pena, Mouphtaou Yarou, Mo Sutton, Taylor King, and Isaiah Armwood. He would have two years of eligibility left.

People have asked if this would be a bad thing for Yarou. One thing to remember is that when Mouph signed on, Cassiem Drummond was still here. It shouldn't be a problem as Famous could fill Caz's slot and scholarship.

Other teams in the mix include; Seton Hall, UConn, Louisville, Memphis, Kentucky, and New Mexico.

Heading to St. Patrick's in Elizabeth, NJ there's Kyrie Irving '10 sharing the backcourt with UNC-commit Dexter Strickland.

The 6'2" guard is ranked #27 by Rivals and #36 by Scout in the Class of 2010. Zagoria doesn't not a final list, but Villanova is wide considered to be a favorite along with Seton Hall and Rutgers.
