In the penultimate game of the regular season Villanova (23-6, 11-5) looks to rebound from this weekend's loss to Georgetown as the team heads to South Bend to take on Notre Dame (16-12, 7-9).
Villanova is coming off a game where they were held to season lows in points (54), Field Goal% (.333), and Field Goals (15).
The Wildcats face another dangerous, desperate, and hungry team as the Irish are looking to win another signature win to improve their chances of landing an at-large bid for the NCAA Tournament. ND lost a similar opportunity at UConn this weekend.
The Irish are considered the top 3-point shooting team in the conference. They were the Big East’s only team hitting better than 40 percent from beyond the arc entering the UConn game, but they made only 8 of 27 3-pointers in that game. Considering that only Providence has taken more 3s - and just six more at that heading into the weekend - Notre Dame must hit its long-distance shots to be successful.
Notre Dame (and the Big East conference) is led by big man Luke Harangody, who is going for over 24 a game this season while adding 12.5 rebounds. Kyle McAlarney is hitting 43.9% of his 3-Point attempts and averaging over 16 points a game.
Along with Harangody and McAlarney, ND head coach Mike Brey usually starts Forward Zach Hillesland, and Guards Ryan Ayers and Luke Zeller.
Hillesland suffered a bruised sternum against UConn and his status is unknown.
