It's been a slow week so we'll just throw out some 2010 PreSeason Rankings from some of the boys at ESPN.
Andy Katz: #6
The Wildcats drop a tad, as Scottie Reynolds' decision to enter the draft without an agent has resulted in some uncertainity. But the incoming class -- Maalik Wayns, Dominic Cheek and big man Mouphtaou Yarou all are top-25 recruits -- is so good the Wildcats get the benefit of the doubt here. With the departure of three Syracuse underclassmen, Nova should be the pick to win the Big East.
Doug Gottlieb: #3
The Wildcats are loaded with talent, and with some added inside depth, will be better than the team that made its Final Four run this past season. Nova has a legitimate shot at a title in 2010. Some in Philly believe the Wildcats might be better off without junior Scottie Reynolds, who entered the draft but hasn't hired an agent.
Incoming big man Mouphtaou Yarou is tough to handle and Dominic Cheek can defend several positions. Like Kansas, the Wildcats only have to sacrifice their individual egos to win big.
Here is Fran Fraschilla's take...
Coming off a great run to the Final Four, Jay Wright has added a monster recruiting class to a team with a solid core of players returning. Keeping Scottie Reynolds around for another season would be a net plus for the Wildcats as well. Here's the problem: Losing Dante Cunningham, Shane Clark and Dwayne Anderson will hurt, as much for their leadership and intangibles as their play on the court. Next season's Villanova team may be Wright's deepest and it will still be very, very good … but you can't put a price tag on experience.
