USA Falls to Russia

USA Basketball.com reports that USA Basketball.com reports that the 2009 USA Men’s World University Games Team (5-1) saw its gold medal hopes slip away in the waning minutes after Russia (6-1) outscored the U.S. 20-9 in the final quarter for a 69-68 win on Friday night.

The U.S. will face Israel (6-1) in Saturday’s bronze medal game. Corey Fisher, who came off the bench, played one of his best games of the tournament. He led the team in minutes played (25) and points (14), and shot 60% from the field, including 50% from beyond the arc. He also had one assist, two steals and only one turnover. "You have to give credit to Russia," said Fisher. "They are a good team. Things didn’t go our way. That’s not an excuse. We came out today, we played hard and we came up with a loss. We have another game tomorrow, we just need to come positive, come strong."
