The No.2 gridiron Cats (11-1) defeated the No.17 Crusaders (9-3) 38-28 in the first round of the Division I Football Championship. Nova scored four touchdowns on rushes by Aaron Ball, Angelo Babbaro, Chris Whitney and Matt Szczur. Whitney also passed for a touchdown to Dorian Wells. Nick Yako completed the scoring with a 25 year field goal. The Cats had 537 yards of total offense (239 passing and 298 rushing), while holding Holy Cross to 393 (347 passing and 46 yards rushing).
The Wildcats next host New Hampshire in the quarterfinals on December 5. New Hampshire destroyed #15 McNeese State yesterday by a score of 49-13. In their first meeting on October 11, Villanova lost at New Hampshire by a score of 28-24.
