Finding themselves down by 17 in the first half, Villanova came back inch by inch with 5 and a half remaining in the first half. The Wildcats only found themselves down by 7, 36-43 at the intermission and started the second half slowly cutting the lead.
Villanova (15-1, 4-0) took their first lead of the game at the 15:03 mark in the second half on a Scottie Reynolds 3-pointer. The 'Cats didn't look back and held a lead that reached 9 en route to their 92-84 victory.
Reynolds scored a season-high 36 points on 9-10 shooting (5-5 from 3FG) in an uncharacteristic Villanova game marred by fouls and turnovers. 66 Fouls were committed in the game split evenly between the two schools and 94 free throws were attempted.
Even though 'Nova was outrebounded 41-29 and committed more turnovers- a total of 22 (but only 5 in the second half), the 'Cats used deadly accuracy from distance shooting at nearly a 70% clip (9-13).
Corey Fisher and Taylor King added 12 points each for 'Nova, and freshman Maalik Wayns was good for 11.
