Update May 9: Inside Lacrosse.com reports that Saturday’s clash of the #11 Wildcats against the #14 Hoyas was played against a backdrop "blustery gusts that reached 50 mph and converted Villanova Stadium into one gigantic wind tunnel. Nineteen of the first 20 goals combined from the two teams were scored by the team that had the wind at its back. But it was Georgetown in the end that defied both Villanova and the laws of nature with a 15-9 Big East victory. The victory almost assures the Hoyas a berth in the NCAA Tournament, whereas Villanova will have to wait Sunday when the tournament pairings are announced to find out whether or not the Wildcats are in for the second-straight year. That appears unlikely, after Georgetown bore through the wind and the Villanova defense to win the crucial fourth quarter and the game. "I think the wind played a factor, it made it tough on the passing and to communicate, it had a bit of an effect," Wildcats’ coach Mike Corrado said. "The thing is, it didn’t seem to affect Georgetown in the fourth quarter when they were playing into the wind. We needed to win this game to get into the tournament. I don’t think three wins over top-20 teams will do it. I’d be surprised if we did get in."
