The BIG EAST Men's Basketball Media Day has been happening all day long. Although I'm stuck in my office, another Villanova blogger, Brian Ewart from VUhoops, has been tweeting and blogging about the event (for which he's in attendance, the lucky SOB) all day long.
You can follow Brian on Twitter here, and make sure to check his post at VUhoops detailing the day.
Some highlights:
- Villanova was picked to finished 2nd in the conference, behind Pittsburgh, by the coaches.
- Austin Freeman was selected as the pre-season Player of the Year. Avoid Casual Hoya at all costs.
- Corey Fisher was named to the All-BIG EAST 1st team, joining Freeman, Kemba Walker, Ashton Gibbs, Jeremy Hazell, and Kevin Jones.
- Rick Pitino was the lone coach to give St. John's a 1st place vote.
So what did we learn? Apparently the coaches don't think any of the big men will make 1st team this year (Kevin Jones is not a true forward in my eyes, he's got a great perimeter game).
Other than that, Rick Pitino is clearly going off the deep end.
