As the preseason polls start to flow in, it is interesting to see the differences in opinion. As the season moves along, it always seems that the various polls seem to converge and ultimately have the same rank at the end of the year.

Today the preseason ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll was released to the world with the Villanova Wildcats coming in at number 6.

Pittsburgh was the top-rated BIG EAST program at number 4, and there were four conference opponents in the poll. Syracuse was 13th, while Georgetown clocked in at number 21. Last year's USA Today number 3, West Virginia, was not included in the preseason list, missing the last spot by 40 points. Louisville and Marquette also received votes.

The Big XII had the most teams included in the poll with 5. The Big East and Big Ten each had 4 schools in the poll, while the ACC and SEC each had 3. The Pac-10 had only one member included, Washington, in a tie for 16th.

Big5 rival Temple was also ranked 22nd in the poll, setting up a potential meeting of two ranked opponents on December 30th at the Pavillion.

The reigning national champion Duke Blue Devils topped the poll.
