BIG EAST Expansion Meetings Tomorrow

The New York Post has the story on tomorrow's annual BIG EAST meetings in Philadelphia, with expansion looking to be the hot topic. The Post is reporting that the TCU Horned Frogs, Houston Cougars, Central Florida Knights as well as the Temple Owls and/or Villanova are strong candidates to join.

The BIG EAST must first attain the school presidents' approval to continue expansion talks first however, and there is a growing concern that some existing football schools may consider breaking away, so naturally this is a delicate topic, and one that BIG EAST spokesman John Paquette is declining to comment on.

Villanova in particular makes a very strong candidate, as they are already in the conference for all other sports.

...Hopefully there are some leaks out of these meetings...I'm still on the side that Villanova is going to accept an invitation to join the conference in football...adding other schools though puts the conference in a bit of a bind though, as it may involving kicking out another basketball-only school...

...I can't imagine the conference expanding to 18 or 20 schools for basketball...but I didn't think it would ever get to 16 either...
