TCU Says No To Football-Only Membership In BIG EAST

TCU Horned Frogs Athletic Director Chris Del Conte today came out and shot down rumours that TCU could become a football-only member in the BIG EAST (the exact opposite of Villanova's current position, ironically enough). Del Conte is focused on keeping the program united, and not splitting things up.

"We’re an athletic department," he said in a telephone interview with Sporting News. "Whatever endeavor we do, you’re united as one. That’s who we are. That’s how we always compete. We compete as one unit."

And in the next breath, as so many of us do, he leaves the door wide open to absolutely anything.

"My sole job is to provide the wind beneath the wings for our teams to compete for championships, whatever that may be," he said. "I will always look at the things we need."

As for a move to the Big East, Del Conte said the reports remain premature, and that TCU’s football program is comfortable for now as a Mountain West Conference member.

What does this tell you, another than he is a fan of the iirresistible Bette Midler? Well, nothing really, except that TCU really wants a full membership should they move. As if we didn't know that already.
