The Villanova Corey Stokes' Wildcats defeated the Penn Quakers tonight by the score of 65-53 at The Palestra, giving the Wildcats a 2-0 record in Big 5 play so far this year.
The story of tonight was Corey Stokes, who poured in a career-high 34 points to go with 4 rebounds and 2 assists. He went 5-9 from beyond the arc and 11-15 overall from the field. The man literally couldn't miss.
Other than that, the only notable storyline was Corey Fisher starting the game on the bench, replaced by Dominic Cheek. Wake up call for Fish? Who knows, but he sure hasn't played well the last few games. It was the same story tonight as he finished with 4 points and 5 turnovers (although he did register 6 assists and 6 rebounds to be fair).
Antonio Pena was the only other player to get the memo tonight as he finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds. The rest of the team wasn't really there as no other player scored more than 4 points (Cheek was the other to hit 4 points). So much for balance.
Good news on the injury front though as both Isaiah Armwood and Maurice Sutton returned to the lineup, albeit in a limited role.
We'll have more on the game tomorrow. What are your thoughts?
