The Delaware County Daily Times selected Villanova's Matt Szczur as their 2010 Delco Sports Figure of the Year. In an article announcing their selection, Jack McCaffery wrote, "Matt ran the football, hit the baseball, saved a life earning him the award. Not that it was easy, not in this county, not this year, not any year."
"When you think of the people who have won, it really is an honor," Szczur said. "I remember winning the Maxwell Award as a college football player of the year, and Vince Papale presented it to me. What a great guy he is. I really enjoyed that. And to think that he won this award, too."
