Rutgers Uses Late Minute Heroics to Upset 'Cats

Villanova was up 8 points with 2 minutes remaining.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, the Scarlet Knights were just about to hit their stride as Rutgers scored 17 points in the last 2:42 including the game tying 3-pointer by Jonathan Mitchell with .8 seconds remaining, an "And 1" shot as Corey Fisher fouled Mitchell on the play.

Mitchell converted the opportunity to put Rutgers up 1 77-76. James Bell's pass the full length of the court was tough for 6'11" Maurice Sutton to control as time ran out. 16 seconds earlier, Bell had put Nova up with a long 3.

Fisher led Nova with 23 points on 7-12 shooting and added 10 assists. In total, the New Jersey native had a part in 17 of Villanova's 24 baskets.

Jay Wright's squad moves to 19-5 on the year (7-4 in the Big East).

More to come...
