Pinkston to be Reinstated June 1

According to multiple reports, suspended forward, JayVaughn Pinkston will be reinstated as a student in good-standing at Villanova on June 1, 2011 -- the first day of the summer session. The suspension was issued in response to his off-court incident that happened prior to the 2010-2011 season.

The end of the suspension will allow Pinkston to enroll in summer classes and to take advantage of the Villanova basketball facilities to work out and train with his teammates.

The 6'6" forward was slated to see some playing time as a small forward during his freshman season, and had been working out with the guards prior to his suspension. Since he never saw action in an official game (only an exhibition against UDC), he will not be charged with a year of eligibility and will instead be considered a redshirt freshman in 2011-2012.

Pinkston still must deal with his criminal charges later this month, with a trial on one count of simple assault and two counts of harassment set to begin on May 25th in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas. If found guilty, there is a chance he would face jail time, but it is perhaps more likely that he will only face community service and fines.
