6/10 Update: This has been confirmed via a press release by the University as well as the new positions for Keith Urgo and Baker Dunleavy.
11 months ago, Doug West left the Villanova Coaching Staff "to pursue a business opportunity". The rumors had been floating around Nova Nation in recent weeks that he would be returning. Today, Mike Kern noted that his sources confirmed that West will be returning to the Jay Wright's coaching staff.
West played at Villanova from 1985-89 and finished with 2,037 career points- 5th on the all-time Villanova list.
He initially joined the coaching staff in October 2007 when another former Nova player, Ed Pinckney, left Wright's staff for a position with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
This has been a busy off-season with subtraction of Chris Walker to Texas Tech, Jay Wright added another former assistant- Billy Lange a month ago.
Additionally, Keith Urgo, will be returning to the role of Director of Basketball Operations. Baker Dunleavy will move into the position of Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach.
Head Coach Jay Wright noted, "We’re really excited about the chemistry of this staff. They each have deep Villanova Basketball ties and a great commitment to the mission of our university."
