Throughout the entire Big East expansion process I've been fairly adamant that Villanova should attempt to block any proposed move of adding the Temple Owls to the conference. For one, a raise in profile for them further dilutes our notoriety in the Philadelphia market, and they become all the more competitive with us.
But as things become more apparent that Villanova is not high on the list of the Big East, it may behoove them to allow Temple (high on the list) an entrance in, provided that Villanova upgrade to FBS status is sponsored by the conference.
Plus, it might make sense for the Big East. if they want to exploit the Philadelphia market (one of the best in the country) even more, they can promote the Temple-Villanova matchup as one of the new rivalries.
What's everyone think? That and more in today's news roundup.
