Villanova Men's Soccer vs. St. John's, Big East Semi-Final At Red Bull Arena

It's flown under the radar a little too much for my liking, but the Villanova men's soccer team is on quite the run right now through the Big East Championship. The team won the first Big East Championship game in the program's history when they went on the road and defeated Notre Dame 1-0 on the strength of a goal from freshman Aaron Dennis.

As if that wasn't enough, they then went down to South Florida and defeated the #5 ranked Bulls 1-0, with the early goal coming from Kyle Soroka. Both games were augmented by stellar defensive efforts.

The USF win landed the 'Cats in the semi-finals, where they will face off against St. John's at Red Bull Arena right outside of New York City in Harrison, New Jersey. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. ET kick-off on Friday night.

We want to get as much support out there for the team as possible with our strong NYC/NJ alumni base, so if you can make the game, you should definitely attend as it is not only a great venue, but the most important game in the program's history.

If you plan on attending, most of the 'Nova alumni will be sitting in section 126 at the arena (buy your tickets here!). That section will undoubtedly be very rowdy (rumors of DRUMS!), so make sure you sit there if you haven't your bought tickets yet.

Finally, there will be a pre-game gathering at Madrid Lisbon which is close to RBA. Several alumni will be there early in the afternoon catching the international soccer action that is scheduled throughout the day (USA vs. France is at 3 p.m. ET).

The address for Madrid Lisbon is 325 Lafayette Street - Newark, NJ  07105. If you plan on attending you can also RSVP for the game on Facebook, where you'll be able to stay up to date with the latest plans that the alumni have.

If you have any questions about the event, you can contact Charlie Rowan at cwrowan [at] gmail [dot] com.
