About two hours before tip-off, Villanova announced that Maurice Sutton is sidelined for an undetermined period of time due to a dislocated left thumb. He was injured during practice this week. While limited from game activity, he will still be able to participate in conditioning with the team and should be able to come back 100% before January.
Markus Kennedy is also out for the Wildcats against Penn after injuring his shoulder this week. He collided with JayVaughn Pinkston in practice and suffered a "stinger." The staff is going he will be able to play on Tuesday when the 'Cats take on a very talented Missouri team on Tuesday.
"Our staff and team is disappointed for Mo," stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. "He’s been making a contribution to our team on a daily basis and we’ll miss his presence, especially defensively. But the positive in this is that Mo can still maintain his conditioning while the thumb heals and we look forward to getting him back out there, possibly in time to start the Big East season.
"I’m worried about Kennedy, I saw the collision between him and JayVaughn; he got a stinger. He couldn’t lift his arm. We’re going to need him on Tuesday."
