Final: Villanova Runs Away From American, 73-52

It what was a nice break from the strenuous losses of the past few weeks, the Villanova Wildcats were able to blow out the American U. Eagles by the final score of 73-52. Villanova's defense was outstanding in this game, a major reason why they were able to comfortably win despite going through a few stretches where their offense was lacking.

Maalik Wayns started out the game on the bench tonight because he was battling a virus, but he recorded a pretty impressive 12 points and 9 assists despite obviously being limited. JayVaughn Pinkston continued his nice run of form with 12 points of his own, and he continually looks more and more like the player we expected him to be when he first arrived on campus.

Jay Wright (a little bit surprisingly) used a very extensive rotation tonight. 8 players saw at least 20 minutes of action, with Markus Kennedy (17 minutes) the only regular rotation player to not make the 20 minute mark.

For those of you wondering, Dominic Cheek was actually good tonight. 10 points on 4-6 shooting, including 2-3 from 3.

Villanova returns to action on December 28th when they open Big East play vs. West Virginia.
