Villanova Lacrosse Hosting Rutgers Saturday Night

The #11 ranked Villanova men's lacrosse team will try to continue a strong season when they host Rutgers at Villanova Stadium on Saturday night. Last time out, the Wildcats scored 8 unanswered goals en route to a 10-4 victory over Delaware where they held the Blue Hens without a goal for nearly 45 minutes.

They'll look to continue that versus the Scarlet Knights led by the offensive ability of sophomore Jack Rice and the defense of All-American Brian Karalunas. Rice recorded 3 goals and 1 assist in last weekend's victory, while Karalunas continues to lead the NCAA in caused turnovers per game with an average of 4.73.

Although Rutgers is 5-6 on the year, they do have some talent, and it was on display in a gut-wrenching 11-10 loss to Princeton in their last game. Freshman Scott Klimchak leads the team in points with 32, and is helped out by Duncan Clancy who has 31 points on the season. They lead and offense that averages over 9 goals per game.

Rutgers has a bit of a revolving door at goalkeeper however, as Rudy Butler and Joseph Donnelly have not been able call the job their own, as combined they are letting in over 7 goals per game.

'Nova has won the last 2 meetings in this Big East lax series, but Rutgers holds the all-time advantage, 6-2. The ball drops at 7:00 p.m. at Villanova stadium so head on out and support the team!
