Villanova Basketball Assistant Chris Walker Takes Texas Tech Associate Head Coaching Job

New, 12 comments

Chris Walker, who was brought to back to Villanova to be an assistant coach under Jay Wright in June of 2009, is now reportedly taking a similar position under Billy Gillespie, the new head coach at Texas Tech. No official press release from the school yet but it's on good authority that this is happening.

In addition to the above tweet, Jeff Goodman from FOX is also reporting that Chris Walker is headed to Texas Tech.

Walker was primarily brought on to the Villanova staff to provide a recruiting boost outside of Villanova's normal hunting grounds, but in his 2 years at 'Nova, his Texas connections did not yield any fruit.

It's tough to see a former basketball standout leave the staff, but best of luck to Walker at Tech. Now the search for a new assistant begins - and we would be THRILLED with an X's and O's genius if you're reading this Jay Wright.
