Villanova Lacrosse Takes On St. John's Lax

The #11-ranked Villanova men's lax team will head to Queens, NY to take on the St. John's men's lax team in a Big East matchup on Saturday afternoon. The first drop is scheduled for 1 p.m. at DeSailva Memorial Field in Jamaica, NY. Villanova Athletics has an intensive preview of the game.

'Nova is coming off of 2 weeks of rest after their game last Saturday night with Rutgers was cancelled due to storms in the area (the game will be replayed Tuesday night at Villanova Stadium).

With an 8-3 record (0-2 in the conference), 'Nova needs to finish the season strong if they hope to secure a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile at St. John's, the Johnnies at struggling at 4-7 and 2-2 in the conference, will look to stake their first victory over Villanova since the 1992 season.

The Johnnies will look to continue their momentum, as they rebounded from 6-straight losses with 3-straight wins before surrendering a 5-2 halftime lead to #2 Notre dame en route to a 10-7 loss. They will look to freshman Kevin Cernuto (20 goals, 14 assists) and Kieran McArdle (31 points) to lead the offense, while goaltender Jeff Lowman will look to improve on his 4-7 record and 9+ goals allowed each game in an attempt to slow down 'Nova.
