In terrible weather this afternoon at DeSailva Memorial Stadium, the Villanova men's lacrosse team stormed back after a slow start to take out Big East rival St. John's 11-9. Villanova dominated the stat sheet for much of the game, but some tight officiating game both teams multiple man-up advantages, yet it was St. John's who took advantage of these opportunities while Villanova floundered.
'Nova found itself down 5-2 at the end of the 1st quarter, and down 7-4 at the end of the 1st half. But they turned up the defense in the second half and a flurry of goals from a host of players ensured that 'Nova was able to climb back on top and hold on for an important win.
As the team twat following the game, it wasn't a pretty effort, but a win is a win and they're all important as the 'Cats try to lock down an NCAA berth.
Villanova returns to action on Tuesday night as they host Rutgers in a make-up game after the previously scheduled date was ruled out by inclement weather.
