The latest rumor floating around the potential Big East expansion and Villanova football came from VUSports.com earlier today via Twitter. The Villanova Rivals site reported that Villanova may be holding a 9 a.m. press conference on Wednesday morning regarding the football program and the Big East.
This rumor is NOT TRUE - and has been confirmed by Brian Ewart of VUHoops.com after speaking with Villanova's football Sports Information Director.
CONFIRMED: There is no Wednesday Morning press conference planned. Per Nova's Football SID.

Rumor of. Wednesday 9AM presser regarding #Villanova move up to Big East football - or not
This is just a rumor at this point, but if it is true, I don't think this spells good news for Villanova. We know what the issue is right now - the stadium. And we know who isn't playing ball right now (West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Rutgers). But a decision this quick means one of two things.
It could be that one or more of the above schools have been flipped in their stance (at this point, I'd bet on Pitt if anyone was) on Villanova's move up, and 'Nova has also secured a deal to help expand PPL Park to 30,000 seats.
More than likely though, it's been deemed that even at 30,000 seats, some Big East schools just aren't having it. But that could just be the pessimist in me talking, and the fact that as long as I've been associated with Villanova, they've done everything as a small-time program and I just don't have the faith that they can step up to the big leagues.
Wouldn't it be nice for Notre Dame to weigh in here? Please?
Stay tuned.
