Villanova Lax Defeats Rutgers 12-7, Closing In On NCAA Bid

The Villanova men's lacrosse team defeated Rutgers tonight by the score of 12-7 in a Big East lax matchup at Villanova Stadium. Unike Saturday's win over St. John's wherethe 'Cats started out slow, they got off to a quick start tonight thanks to an unassisted goal from Matt Bell with just over a minute gone in the game.

By the end of the 1st period 'Nova built a 5-2 advantage and would never look back, although the 2nd period brought just a goal from each side as Villanova took a 6-3 lead into the half behind Bell's 2 first half goals. Brian Karalunas led all players with 3 groundballs and 1 caused turnover.

But the offensive onslaught continued after the break as 'Nova pushed on thanks to 2 goals each from Jack Rice & Nick Doherty and goals from Max Hart and Michael Vigilante.

The win pushed Villanova's record to 10-3, 2-2 and helps them move towards locking up an NCAA bid. If you missed it last night, 'Nova is currently projected as 'Bubble In' in the latest Lax Bracketology

...An especially sweet win over a school who's currently trying to block us from becoming a Big East football member because they don't want us owning them in another sport...
