NFL Draft: Ben Ijalana Was Good, Not Great At Villanova Pro Day

Villanova football held it's Pro Day today at Villanova Stadium, and it was very well attended, presumably to watch Villanova's All-American tackle Ben Ijalana. According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, at least 23 NFL teams sent personnel to Villanova, including the Philadelphia Eagles.

In another report for PackersNews.com, it was reported that Ijalana did impress after he couldn't participate at the NFL Combine due to an injury. Ijalana recorded a 5.12 in the 40-yard dash, a 27" vertical jump, and a 9'0" broad jump.

That’s a good but not great performance. By comparison, Wisconsin’s Gabe Carimi, who looks likely to go in the top 20 or 25 picks at worst, ran the 40 slightly slower (5.18 seconds), was noticeably better in the vertical jump (31 ½ inches) and did about the same in the broad jump (9-1).

At this current time, Ijalana is still considered in the second-tier of offensive lineman, meaning that he could go anywhere from the late-1st to 2nd-round according to most mock drafts.
