If you're like us and in the northeast, you could possibly still be dealing with the effects of Hurricane Irene this morning. In Manhattan, we were barely affected. We were expecting power outages, severe flooding, etc. None of that ever happened. Irene was pretty much just an inconvenience to my Saturday night, forcing my activities inside instead of out on the town.
The big news for those who were away for the weekend was that 2012 commitment Savon Goodman is no longer committed to 'Nova. Nothing from Goodman yet on why, but his departure from ANC to Constitution for the coming year was driven by academic issues.
"Well, here's the thing," (ANC Coach Kevin) Givens said. "We won't know until school starts sometime next week. But my thinking, and I can't confirm this, is that he will not be back.
"The reason is exactly what people have said, because of the academic approach that we have. That's a priority for us, so there may be something to that."
There was also talk of his head getting turned by proposed greener pastures. We'll see how this goes as he hasn't ruled 'Nova out yet - it's very likely he enrolls somewhere other than Villanova though. The rest of your morning links are below.

The Catholic League was a small and short-lived universe, a world of Converse and center jumps that survived perhaps 40 post-war years before the black hole formed by a variety of cosmic forces - from the AAU to ESPN - swallowed it up. But for a few wonderful decades, at some quirky gyms and tradition-rich schools, many of which no longer exist, it was a sacred ritual.
