Kuran Iverson, a 6'8" forward that plays his high school basketball at Northwest Catholic in Connecticut, has listed Villanova in his latest Top 5, alongside UConn, Kentucky, Louisville and Texas. This is a Top 5 that has changed from a Top 3 he listed in July, with Syracuse dropping out of contention.
Iverson, the cousin of former Georgetown Hoyas and NBA star Allen Iverson, is a prospect whose recruitment is quickly heating up. Kentucky and local-favorites UConn appear to be the main players, but with Savon Goodman decommitting from 'Nova and Amile Jefferson looking unlikely at this point, Villanova is definitely going to be on the hunt for elite forwards, and their inclusion on Iverson's newest list is a definite indicator that Jay Wright is increasing his efforts with the rising junior.
Wright will have a fight on his hands, and 'Nova definitely should be considered an outside shot at this point, but Iverson is the type of player that Villanova will need to land to stay elite in the basketball world.
Highlights of Iverson are after The Jump.
